a'Bouzy in Houston

I came from Saturday brunch and had a good time. It's really busy and loud and the tables are really close together but not a big deal.  The atmosphere is lively, and definitely "happening" Of course, champagne is yummy! Love the mini juices (small details matter). The food was pretty good. We got the baked oysters which I thought were yummy. The beef carpaccio was okay although the chimmichurri was fresh,  but once I added the rock salt from the Oysters it was great. The French toast had good flavor, personally would have loved for it to be more moist. I'm not sure what the ham sandwich is called but I enjoyed it. I didn't really care for our server. He didn't seem to be engaging or really have that pleasant of an attitude, but wasn't outwardly rude or anything.

The good: Lovely decor, Food is yummy and portions are generous. The so-so: Maybe I should expect less customer service since Covid but I've gone here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch and on both occasions service was definitely lacking. There's a lack of attentiveness and friendliness for a nice restaurant. The servers rarely come and check on the table, regardless If the restaurant is slow or busy and don't bother to ask how the food is or if you need anything, etc. I've worked in the restaurant biz and...

Decided to come to A'bouzy at the recommendation of a close friend. Apart from the ambiance and beautiful establishment, the experience did not match. I made a reservation for 1:15pm, a week in advance and did not get seated until 2:20pm. After waiting over an hour my party was seated. Our server was not attentive, trash and plates from our orders were sitting in our face until we flagged an employee down. Our server (never gave us his name) brought our checks without us requesting for them, which made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. The service was below our expectations we had for this establishment .
