Another great place to eat.

We loved this place so much we went twice while we were in Girdwood! I tried two kinds of chai, the vanilla chai and the spicy chai. The vanilla was too sweet for me personally but the spicy chai was perfection. We also tried the Bavarian cream donut, the apple fritter, the sprinkled cake donut and a piece of baklava. The Bavarian cream was huge and very tasty. The apple fritter was nice and not doughy like some can be in the middle, it had delightful crispy edges. The cake donut was solid and the coffee was just ok. However, the baklava was absolutely divine!

Hungry and thirsty after quite a bit of driving, my girlfriend and I stopped into Alpine Cafe & Bakery in hopes of finding some local treats. We were disappointed. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Alpine Cafe is a cute enough bakery and our server was very nice. She gave us some backstory around the goods and the coffee, which was helpful context given she let us know that Alpine's head baker had recently quite and it was thus up to the baristas to make the baked goods. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Large cookies ran me $3.50 each, so we grabbed two and were on our way. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? These cookies were... not great. Maybe it's because they were baked by an inexperienced barista as opposed to a baker, but the ingredients seemed entirely off with poor flavor, lacking sweetness, and texture that was too firm. No Star. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I wouldn't. No Star.
