A few days ago, my family and I went to the beach for the day. Like any family, we decided to have supper at a pizza place called Angelo's Pizzeria & Restaurant on Landis Avenue in Sea Isle City, NJ. We were hot and tired, our daughter was really cranky and hungry too, so my husband went in to order food. Knowing we can’t eat inside the restaurant due to COVID, we noticed they had empty tables outside, so I proceeded to sit down. There was a sign at the tables that said “OUTDOOR DINING FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS ONLY”. I thought to myself, we’re buying they’re food, so we can sit here. The hostess of the restaurant was glaring at me out the door, the ENTIRE time we waited for the food. A waitress joined in to also glare at me and give me dirty looks. My husband comes out and says, “They told me we can’t eat here. It’s for customers who have waitresses and who are getting served only. We need to eat somewhere else”. I said “No, it’s for paying customers. We bought $50 worth of food, so we’re going to sit here and eat”. The girls were still looking at my after 30 minutes of sitting there. I’m sorry, I didn’t know we couldn’t eat outside at a restaurant when there were about 10 empty tables and no other customers. We then left and proceeded to eat in the car, with the hostess still giving me nasty looks. I definitely won’t be eating there again. They hired children to work there first of all, and need to specify on their sign that “dine in guests are to only sit at the tables”. Instead, I had to take my 18 month old to sit in the car when it’s 92+ degrees outside to eat our supper. Ridiculous.
