Anvil Bar & Refuge, menu in Houston

The OG of cocktail bars in Houston! It has set the precedence in my opinion of what a top tier cocktail bar should be. It's been on quite a run and hope it continues for years to come. Great bartenders all around and the drinks speak for themselves. Can be tough at times getting seated, but a great place to have a drink or a few and let the good times roll.

This is THE place to go for wonderful craft cocktails! They have an extensive menu with unique cocktails that will cater to your preferences. Their menu separates the drinks based on flavor profile, so it's easy to navigate based on what you're looking for.   I tried the SINGAPORE SLING, which I would describe as a fruity and light drink, and I loved it! My friend ordered the FRENCH 75, which was a classic and always good. I came on a early Monday evening and was surprised to see that there was already a good crowd starting. The ambiance was intimate and chill during that time. The bartenders were very friendly, attentive, and energetic! There's large booths along the edge of the bar and plenty of seating at the bar itself. I'm glad I went at the time I did to snag a booth, because I can imagine how crowded it gets on weekend nights. I will be back again for a cocktail night with friends!

I went on a birthday trip to Houston and my friend suggested drinks at Anvil Bar & Refuge. I am SO glad he did. We went on a Wednesday and the place was busy but not out of control, an indicator imo of a great bar. The ambiance was modern and relaxed and the bartenders were so kind and knowledgeable. To be completely clear, the Ramos Gin Fizz I ordered was the best cocktail I have ever had. Not to mention the time and detail my bartender (who's name I sadly can't remember) took to craft this drink was a pleasure to watch. It was an immersive and out of this world experience. I'll be recommending this bar to anyone heading anywhere near Houston and will be visiting when I come back. Great job!
