Came here for the first time in early January for my birthday upon recommendations and had a wonderful time! Many restaurants during the pandemic have let go of special touches but not so for Asheville Proper which has stellar service and a nice ambience. We arrived for our reservation to a birthday card signed by their team and waiting on our table. After that we received impeccable service and attention with our drinks and food coming out quickly. We ordered the octopus which was a nice portion and cooked to perfection but...

Steak is redefined at this humble, yet upscale restaurant. My first bite of the tri-tip steak actually knocked me out of my seat. I think it was the combination of wood fired flavor, seasoning, and outstanding service. This eating adventure was not just a dinner - it was an immersive experience. I would sleep on a hammock made of barbed wire to have this meal again.

This is a hidden gem in a fun area of town. You need to check it out and get yourself some "proper" treatment. Tess was our waitress and she was fantastic. My fiancé and I and the other couple raved about the cocktail variety and the delicious meats (NY strip for the win!). Also, get the octopus--it's so flavorful. The vibe is very romantic and fun and not stuffy.
