I always look forward to getting my meal from Balo everyone we visit N.VA. Love most everything on their menu.

Had the laksa and it was just ok but didn’t satisfy my craving. Found the broth to be too rich and not enough depth. Like the fact you can get level 0-4 spicy. Also like that you could just order at their kiosk. Wouldn’t return here for laksa, though.

Looking at previous reviews, it appears that Balo Kitchen has fallen off in quality. I ordered the beef lo mein, spicy garlic wings, and Dan Dan noodles to get a little taste of the menu. The beef lo mein could have been taken from any all you can eat Chinese buffet in the country - very generic. For some reason, the cook in the back thought it would be a good idea to throw large sprigs of green onion in - every bite was like crunching into a salad until I scooped and threw away the forest of green onions. The wings were a little bit spicy, but had no hint of garlic flavor at all - not even if I closed my eyes and imagined real hard. The Dan Dan noodles had a burned, acrid taste to them and were described as "worse than Panda Express." Adding insult to injury, the food was expensive as well ($14 for beef lo mein). I won't be back to Balo, especially since A&J is a five minute drive away.
