Better Luck Tomorrow in Houston

This place feels like home. I love it here. The vibe is always great- casual and fun. I love sitting outside here for happy hour on a nice afternoon. The happy hour every weekday until 5 is a no brainer- $5 cocktails?! Yes!! The food is also super yummy. The party melt might be the best burger in Houston

Wife and I visited BLT yesterday evening prior to a dinner at a nearby restaurant.  We have been visiting our cities cocktail bars for a pre-dinner drink for a while now.  Giving Better Luck Tomorrow 3 stars because of a what I perceived as a weird vibe service wise compared to the other cocktail bars we have visited (some within the same ownership group).  We arrived around 5:30 and the place was bustling, but not completely full.   Since we were just planning on one cocktail we opted for seating inside.  For the first 5 minutes or so, we sat at our table facing the bar, watching wait staff scurry about, but mostly with their backs to us facing the bar.  I guess the staff is not their to take your order, because one of the bartenders finally looked over the shoulder of a server and asked what we might want.  We then ordered two cocktails, both of which were outstanding.  A server delivered us water, but I had to go to the bar to pick up my drinks, and to close out the tab.  I'm not sure what folks that were seated outside do.  Do they order from the servers, or come inside and order directly from the bartenders??  Just confusing.  Maybe I just didn't understand the system, but have enjoyed my pre-dinner cocktail experience more at other bars.  If we return to BLT, it will be for dinner and drinks, and hopefully more of a full service experience.
