In Houston, there are a couple of spots that I call my "take myself on a date place". In just 2 visits (3 if you count my take out order of burek), Cafe Adel has become such an establishment.On my first trip in, accompanied by my friend who suggested trying Cafe Adel, we tried the kajmak dip from the appetizer menu, a traditional Bosnian cream cheese made fresh in house served with house baked pita. For my meal, I had the Stuffed Pljeskavica, a meat patty stuffed with mushrooms and cheese and served with a side of ajvar, sort of like a burger but with better bread. My friend had the beef burek, a beef and onion stuffed filo pastry made fresh daily by the owner's mom. Bureks also come in the option of spinach, potato, or cheese and are served with a side of kajmak or ajvar depending on the type.Hearing from a neighbor that the salmon is delicious, on my second, this time solo trip in, I decided to give it a try.
