A tradition in my wife’s family for four generations. 2021 was my first time back in about five years. Essy’s place is old-school service at its best: unassuming, clean, friendly, warm, and welcoming. The proprietor himself often works the whole front of house, sometimes with one of his (adult) children assisting. Food is always fresh and delicious, although the portions are quite small by today’s standards. I have been patronizing Essy's Carriage House for several years. I have always appreciated the upscale atmosphere, the convenient and free parking, and especially the quite music played (classical), so that one can have a conversation without raising one's voice. Now during the COVID-19 crisis, Essy's is taking customers outside or inside; I am continuing to buy Essy's food by take-out. The quality is invariably high. The ossobuco this week was excellent -- well seasoned, succulent and attractively presented. My other favorite is their stroganoff, and their Eggs Benedict or their Filet Mignon Benedict on Sundays. The take-out arrangements are 100% safe. Essy's are always on time, and usually prepare large orders within thirty or forty minutes.
