City Bar & Chop House in Richmond

We were having dinner at The Halligan and mentioned Mother's Day brunch. That's when Buster told us about this place and what a great brunch spread they have so we decided to check it out... soooooo glad we did! I was expecting the usual salad fixins and a choice of meats but this buffet was much different. At first glance, it was evident that the food wasn't just bland whatever cooked in bulk. We had sauteed asparagus, squash, red peppers,etc, fresh salmon, scallops in curry sauce, chicken and rice, sliced beef in brown gravy. There was more food than that, those mentioned are what we ate. There were two chefs outside covered patio for made-to-order eggs and oysters so we split an omelet and lightly fried fresh oysters. Although they had an impressive dessert spread, we opted for a made-to-order blintz (which I'd never heard of). It was a light crispy pastry filled with ricotta and goat cheese, topped with sliced strawberries and sweet sauce. Walked in here on tonight because never heard of.  As soon as walked I realized it had a private wedding reception. We quickly turned around to leave but some lady came to front telling us private reception and being completely rude. We were walking back out door why be so rude.  I even turned around and asked her and she continued to be insultingly rude about an honest mistake of walking in to this restaurant. Trust me lady I won't accidentally walk in your restaurant again.  And hey - how about a private party sign next time. Realize what is an unwelcoming place and this is it !
