Way too much food! My god it was delicious and fast and by no means pretentious or even slightly offensive. I heard about the spot from a  barbershop. I went there, I was worried as there were many military types eating with their families in the DMV it's a red flag as they have no palates. How wrong I was, the tostones are off the hinges, the mojo is amazing. I about went into carb overload on the Cuban sandwich which can be shared and the rice and beans were great none of that crappy par boiled rice you find in central Asian eateries where the idea of cuisine has not change since Kubla Khan. "People shush kebabs are not new or original"thank goodness when the moors were kicked outdo Spain  ..as was the skewer. Fantastic owners ans. Ice food go there spend money

Setup is in the style of where you order at the counter and then wait for your food at a table unless you're doing take away. Be prepared to wait either way. Surroundings are clean and spacious. Price of the food is extremely high. $8.95 for two empanadas that are alright but not dripping with flavor. They come with seems to be only a mayo-ketchup sauce. I'd expect some sort of homemade salsa or other condiment for the price. Other condiments are available at each table, but they're also store bought. $15.95 for a Cubano sandwich, no sides. The sandwich can feed four. The flavor is clean pork and mustard with a dash of pickle and funky ham (weird texture to it). Cheese wasn't melted, but the bread was crunchy...

I blame Jon Favreau and his movie Chef for craving a Cubano sandwich, which is how i ended up here at Cubasi Bistro. I ordered their Media Noche and their Yuca with Mojo. The bread they used with the media noche was really great and had a great flavor on its own. Add that it was toasted perfectly made it way better. The ham is also subtly sweet and just perfect way to add flavor to the overall sandwich. The pork seemed a little bland if tasted on its own, but it's a perfect complement when eaten as a whole with the sweet ham and bread, with the sourness of the pickles. By the way, the portion size is huge, so if you're thinking it seems expensive, it because it's humongous. I haven't tried Yuca with Mojo prior to this and i wasn't sure what to expect. Overall it's a good side dish to go with the media noche. The sweetness of the yuca is balanced well with the slight sourness of the mojo. I will definitely come back for more of their media noche, and will give their other mains a try.
