We recently went to Daniel's for the first time on recommendation. I had braised escargot, spicy duck meatballs and Hudson Valley Duck foie Gras, and it was delicious. I highly recommend Daniel's for both good service and food.
The evening was fine -- food was good, service was quite slow but the staff noted that they were much busier than normal. The downside came when I received the a single slip of paper when my VISA card was run, and there wasn't the normal customer copy. When we were leaving my husband requested a copy of the charge slip and the hostess (manager?) commented in a faux German accent, "Does she want it to give to the Comptroller on Monday?" -- indicating that I wanted the slip to write off the dinner. It was insulting, particularly in the fake German accent. Aren't you supposed to get a copy of the charge slip when you pay with VISA? I won't be back -- dinner was good but not good enough for the manager's comment -- and not getting a copy of the VISA receipt.

Terrific. We had a group of 5, so sesting was a little tight at a round table, but not uncomfortably so. Appetizer, main course, and dessert offerings are extensive, so we satisfied both adventurous and more limited eaters. All the seafood dishes (mussels, oysters, scallops, and char) were delicious as were the duck, pork chop, and steak mains. They were out of cheesecake, but we made do with flourless chocolate cake and Bananas Foster (prepared tableside) and both were excellen...
