Dickey's Barbecue Pit is located in the Turkey Creek Shopping Center off Parkside Dr near the Campbell Station exit of Interstate 40/75 and is next to Best Buy. The Knoxville area was introduced to Dickey's Barbecue Pit in March of 2015, when a 25 year veteran of the United States Air Force began a new career in the BBQ bidness. Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in Dallas TX over 75 years ago with the simple idea of serving authentic slow-smoked barbecue to the Lone Star State. The restaurant broke out of its shell in 1967 and spread throughout the DFW area. Then in 1994 franchising opportunities became available, elating Dickey's ravenous devotees of hickory-smoked barbecue and the iconic "Big Yellow Cup." Not much has change since its humble begins, Dickey's Barbecue Pit has a modest and simple goal. "Be passionate about the art of great barbecue." I was first introduced to Dickey's Barbecue Pit when I was working for PFSweb at the Elm Street location in downtown Dallas. In the bowls of the skyscraper I found a bbq treasure trove. I have sampled various eats from their menu from time to time. Each in turn was deliciously smoked and satisfyingly scrumptious. On my recent visit I dropped into the Knoxville location and dinned on one of Dickey's Barbecue Pit's Texas Frito's pie (corn chips, beans, chopped beef brisket, topped with cheddar cheese, white onions and sprinkled with rib rub). Unfortunately, I was a little under whelmed by my choice. The beans tasted bland and left me craving a little more flavor. The corn chips were crunchy and not soggy in the slightest. The beef brisket was moist and possessed a wonderful smoked taste. The beef brisket was well trimmed and mouth-waveringly...
