I've passed by the Dixie III Restaurant occasionally for years when traveling US 64 but never stopped altho the parking lot always indicated a good crowd. Finally stopped there last week for dinner ( that's lunch in the South) at the suggestion of my wife. Forget all the franchises on Dixie Drive in Asheboro; this is the real deal. Service was fast, friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. Not many places still serve chicken livers but these were some of the best I've ever had along with well prepared pinto beans ( with onions on top, if requested) and cucumber salad. Some of the best hushpuppies I've had recently. My wife's fried okra was made with fresh okra not the frozen pre fried kind so often found these days and she loved the cornbread ( moist and not too sweet). Im giving 4 stars but would call it 4 1/2 if I could. Will definitely eat there the next time I'm that way and if the experience is as good I might call it 5 stars.
