My husband and I have visited this restaurant twice now during trips to DC. Hands down this is the best Italian we've ever had. As if that's not enough, the staff are so friendly and kind. I can't say enough great things about this place. Oh and get the tiramisu, it does not disappoint! Will for sure be back with every DC trip!

First of all, I've been coming here for years. I literally forgot how good it was!! Warmly greeted at the door, seated promptly and before I knew it - bread and water brought to the table! Not just any bread, but perfectly baked fresh bread with the most perfect butter. Ordered the veal parm and mozzarella caprese... finished with chocolate cake and my favorite, coconut ice cream. Now, all of this amazing food was washed down with two lemon drop martinis that were as perfectly made as the food I paired it with. The sauce - perfect. Not to sweet, tangy, or spicy. The veal - perfectly cooked. And the incredibly dense but soft cake served at the most perfect temperature to bring out all the amazing flavors! I'll be back time and time again to this cozy mom and pop that opened up in 1972! Frederico's deserves a 50 year star for this amazing cornerstone of a restaurant.

I have been going to Café Italia for over 30 years, and was sad when they closed. Now that Freddie has reopened it as Federico Ristorante Italiano, It is better than ever. I’ve been there twice so far in the couple weeks they been open. The food is fantastic, the place is spotlessly clean and they managed to keep the atmosphere of the old Café Italia, while also making everything clean and fresh. The people working there couldn’t have been more helpful. I will be a regular.
