Firetrucker Brewery in Ankeny

There's a nice patio area with shade to enjoy. The inside is also nice with air purifiers to boot! The beer is just not good. I had a Hazy IPA that was not a hazy. I drank half. The S/O tried another one and that tasted like vegetables.

Firetrucker is a real jewel! We were fortunate to be joined by brewer Chris who helped to optimize our visit. Who else would be better to recommend the beers. We tried several and we were not disappointed in any. There is a large selection of ginger beer drinks which we were not able to try, but will be a definite goal next time. Sure wish Firetrucker was situated in our neck of the woods. The venue is an old fire station. It is clean, colorful, light and airy. Table tops are made from old fire station doors, and are plentiful. There is an outside area but the day was too cool for that. Food can be brought in and they recommend Fongs, but the packaged spicy pretzels and nuts are a perfect accompaniment to the beers. Naming of the beers is consistent with the fire station theme and the selection is plentiful. We took home a growler , a 4 pack, a glass, and the feeling that we made a new friend in Chris. Our first visit to Firetrucker Brewery was fantastic. The staff made us feel very welcome. Bartenders answered all of our questions we had. Definitely going back.
