German Restaurant Stammtisch in Seaside

Passing through Monterey and was craving German food. Looked up on Yelp and came here. Almost didn't go in since it looked like a restaurant on the first floor of an apartment complex. My wife and I were starving and they just opened. Thank goodness we went in. Instantly transported to a quaint local restaurant in Germany. Warmly welcomed by the proprietor and seated immediately. He gave us recommendations that we followed. We had the special goulash over spaetzle and the hausplatte sampler. It was one of the most wonderful German meals I have ever had. The chef came out to check on us and she was so nice. Had black forest cake for dessert and it was equally excellent. Not very sweet with nice tart cherries. Great finish to a great meal. Cannot wait to return.

Run by nice kind couple! Food had nice portions and price was good. The decor inside was also authentic!

Brought girlfriend to German Restaurant Stammtisch. The food was good, but the owner/hostess/server was horrible. He joked about putting beer in my 7-up, I told him I was driving. I said this in German and he joked, leaving no doubt he understood. Nevertheless, he brought my 7-up with beer in it ruining the evening,  I shouldn't have to explain to him , I am a recovering alcoholic with 30 years of sobriety. I and my girlfriend was shocked he would do this. The 30 dollar tip I left was for his wife Claudia the chef and her food, This review is for the little man owner/hostess/server. If someone says no alcohol, I'm driving at least respect that. As a veteran with certain issues you're rude disrespectful actions can cause an unpleasant trigger.
