Gersi RVA in Richmond

By far my favorite Italian place in Richmond. The food is extremely fresh. The portions aren't so huge that you feel like a balloon full of pasta when you leave. The atmosphere is awesome, I can remember when this building was a little run down bar where my grandfather hung out. I'm glad to see it still has a lot of life left in it. On a weekend night it's going to be loud, so just be warned. It's a great experience though. Awesome service. And I say this in all honesty, the best Tiramisu I've ever had in my entire life. I feel like I could eat a baking pan full of it. I like the rigatoni, and also highly recommend the orichette (I probably misspelled that). The bruchetta with fresh tomatoes is a great starter as well.

For anyone looking for a chic spot to enjoy some Italian food, Gersi is the one. Now, it may not seem like much from the outside (kinda appears to be a hole-in-the-wall) but the inside is super cutesy and vintage-themed. The service was also very speedy and friendly! For little appetizers, they brought us their famous beans and bread. The beans were SPECTACULAR. The bread had potential to be the best of breads as it looked toast-y and fluffy at the same time; however, it was oddly-cold and chewy, like beef jerky. For entrees, my sister and I shared their cacio e pepe and that was AMAZING.  A perfect portion-size to share. Her fiance ordered their risotto and was extremely pleased. I tried a bit and loved the ~crunch~ in the midst of gooey risotto texture! We also ordered their salad. The dressing was a bit much, though I blame it on myself - I forgot to order it to come on the side. Overall, a lovely place with yummy food and the ambience was peaceful and chill to lead great conversations with your friends and family :)

Gersi RVA is a charming little restaurant with a very personable staff and a great menu. The beet and ricotta cheese ravioli was fantastic.
