Best Chinese food in the City

8.0/10 Rating average Published 2 years ago | Yelp

Having relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area, I am always on the hunt for good food. I am sad to say, that either my expectations are too high, or there are certainly not many restaurants that can compare with The City. (Especially Chinese and Mexican food). My wife and I were hankering for Chinese, so naturally we started surfing on Yelp. The Golden Garden Chinese Restaurant seemed promising and even had a 100 health score! We arrived to find they had converted their front door into a take out window as a result of the Covid pandemic. They had a table in front of the door with a large bottle of hand sanitizer, a door bell to summon the employees and disposable menus. We looked over the menus and decided what we would like. We rang the bell and a lady arrived to take our order. After taking our order, she reached out with the portable charge card machine where I inserted my card and paid, after which she took it back. Now those are some pretty impressive ways of making a customer feel safe. I ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken and my wife ordered Teriyaki Chicken. We also had a side of Lo-Mein. Once the ordered was cooked, we took it to the car where the pungent odors made us salivate.  When we got home, we heated the dishes up and dug in. Although they were not as good as the China Town restaurants in The City, but it was a flavorful and generous entree.. The menu options are many and the prices are comparable to other Chinese Restaurants in our area. There is plenty of parking as well. My fortune said, "Even if your friends compliment you, keep your feet on the ground." That's good advice. Thank you Confucius!
