Grub Kitchen + Bar in Houston

The food here is good but I have to get it to go. The music is so loud and bass is so high, like full volume so that often all you hear is the bass. It's almost painful and impossible to have a conversation without yelling.  Maybe great for a night crowd but horrible for a lunch crowd. Their burgers are precisely cooked making well done, medium and rare correct.  The only thing I would suggest with their food is that they would have great onion rings if they cut down the batter.   Service is very polite but they are very short handed. On the day we were there it took 45 minutes to get our food. Only one table in 7 were eating.   But, it seems they were overwhelmed with to go orders.  Maybe due to the super loud music and heavy bass. In addition, they were out of several of the menu items. It is sad because their food is pretty good.

Omg...decided to randomly visit this place one evening and needless to say, I am so glad it isn't far from me, because I definitely plan to go back. This was our first time visiting so when we walked in, we were not sure if we should wait to be seated or go straight to the counter. We finally realized that we could either sit at the bar or go straight to the counter to order. I ordered the chicken strip basket with mac and cheese on the side. My friend ordered the mac and cheese hamburger. We had to wait a little minute before our food came out (not sure if this was due to limited staff or not), but it was worth the wait. Our food came out hot and fresh. Everything was really good! I have to try one of their hamburgers when I go back. I am not big on hamburgers (It just has to be the right time and mood for me crave a burger), so that is why I ordered chicken strips during my first experience, but I will return.

I had lunch with my mom at Grub Kitchen + Bar in Katy a few months ago. I came across recent reviews and was reminded of the great experience we had and knew I had to write a review and offer my praises. If you're a fan of burgers or gourmet sandwiches, this is your spot. They make their burger buns daily; and they use prime ingredients. I don't eat meat, so I was happy to see they have Beyond Beef patties. They have salads, bowls, sandwiches... I once ordered the Santa Fe Chicken Bowl (sans chicken and Oaxaca cheese) and was pleased. It comes with an ancho chili lime vinaigrette... yes!
