The great Japanese bbq place! It is very hard to find this quality Japanese bbq in the U.S. I am so impressed! Great price and services too :)

Really excited they finally opened up a Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ in VA as I've had it in NYC. The restaurant has really good ambience and lighting as well as great happy hour specials ($3 for beer). We got the Spicy Tuna Volcano, Japanese fried chicken, and fried calamari for appetizers, which were all perfectly crispy and not too oily. We also got the Gyu-Kaku salad which I really like and is very refreshing. The garlic fried rice was also very garlicky and appetizing as a side. I've done the combos before but I actually like doing a la Carte unless you want to try almost everything. My favorite meats are the Harami in secret pot (has a mild miso marinade), the Prime Kalbi Short Rib, the Kalbi Chuck Rib, and the beef tongue. All are extremely tender/juicy and really good quality meats. The toro beef is also quite good - reminds me kind of a bacon because of the amount of fat and saltiness. Yaki-Shabu was also really good and grills quite quickly compared to the Galbi. For dessert I highly recommend the lady M Cakes which get shipped from NYC! They sometimes go quickly so recommend reserving one once you sit down to eat :)
