Interesting spot in town. Friendly. Good service. And...not crowded. Outside seating available. Over 8 different types of burgers to choose from! Fish tacos were great and the curry chicken salad sandwich was definitely something different, in a good way! Oh and plenty of mead to go around!

Little expensive but it is worth it. Food was awesome, portions were huge, the tea was great.Prancing Pony burger.

I thought it may be helpful to offer some insight into the Hobbit Hole...I mean Hobbit Cafe's history.  I think it will help you make a bit more sense of the menu, otherwise it *does* feel like it's a bit thrown together and basic. So, the Hobbit Hole was opened in 1972 in the OG Montrose area as a vegetarian restaurant over on Shepherd Drive (in the cute little house directly next to Barnaby's).  It still looks like Bilbo Baggin's house, except the doors aren't round and a lawyer operates out of it now - if you drive by it, you'll see what I mean - seating was upstairs and down.   Back on course, by vegetarian, I mean 1970's vegetarian.  As in granola, healthy, Mollie Katzen/Alice Watters, hippie, albeit huge portions (like a hobbit would eat) vegetarian.  Shredded carrots, black beans, and rice on the side of every sandwich, thank you very much.  Each sandwich and smoothie was named for a character in Tolkien's male-character-centric books.  So......
