Every fish we had was so delicious! Seemingly authentic. We really felt emerged in the culture even if only through food. I recommend it!

An old favorite for a quick bite. Reasonably priced and great tasting. I can understand why it has been open for so long. I tend to stay away from the noodles and stick with the rice bowls.  I really like the pan fried chicken with black bean sauce.

House of bowls is a pretty nice-go spot to take friends who prefer a slightly lighter taste versus some of the places I normally bring people to (indian, sichuan food, etc). Their food is not too spicy, salty, or greasy, and overall you leave without feeling like you have a food coma. Today I ordered the beef chow fun and the shrimp and egg chow fun as well as the hong kong peanut butter french toast Beef chow fun (4/5): Both chow funs have a nice smoky flavor. You can tell they're cooked at a really high heat. At the same time, the noodles are sticky yet slippery which I enjoy. The beef chow fun has generous portions of beef chunks that are quite tender, and the bean sprouts and onions give some crunchiness. Solid dish. Egg and shrimp chow fun (4/5): This has the rice noodles as well but with eggs and shrimp. The egg is mixed into the chow fun and has an appearance similar to egg drop soup, and the shrimp are pretty big and cooked perfectly. I like eating this one with white pepper or the chili oil. Compared to the beef chow fun, it definitely has more liquid, which I actually think is a nice changeup. Hong kong french toast (4.5/5)...
