IHOP is usually always a safe place to get breakfast. Food is always good, fun food options, decent coffee, friendly staff, clean, etc. Yeah, that wasn't necessarily the case today. I'm empathetic to staffing shortages because it's a big issue right now. But dang, I didn't feel it was THAT short staffed today, but it seemed like staff wasn't working super well together. Our waitress was very good nonetheless, but the lack of communication and teamwork was something I noticed. My husband and I were by ourselves today looking for a yummy breakfast, and our food was decent, but it wasn't the usual IHOP quality. I also didn't love only getting one packet of syrup for my pile of pancakes. Healthier yeah, but fun syrups are part of the appeal! But that's thanks to COVID... still would've been nice being offered more than just the one packet of regular syrup, though. We were also seated right next to a large family with misbehaved children (sorry, I'm not trying to be judgmental, but it was next level misbehaving). So my boothe seat being up against their boothe seat was not my favorite experience. I get the host seats people based on table openings, but with there being other open tables, it would've made more sense seating us away from the rowdy kids. But, not totally IHOPs fault, it happens anywhere you go. My 3/5 rating is simply because the food was subpar and the table wasn't super clean. We were seated at a table that still had a money tip left behind. So how was it cleaned first if it still had money sitting on it?
