My hubby and I wanted to eat at the original Irma's but they were already closed. We were very surprised at how nice the inside of the restaurant was! White table cloths, linens, very classy! Menu was amazing! We had the guacamole to start. I prefer smooth guacamole over chunky which is how Irmas' SW prepares there's. The guacamole was kinda bland so I just added more lime and salt to mine and it worked out just fine. I had the salmon with chipotle and grilled veggies (squash, zucchini) and my husband, well my husband had...ah shoot! I forgot what my man had BUT he said he enjoyed it so much! I'm only eating fish and veggies right now so he was really enjoying his food because he didn't have to worry about me digging in his plate! Indefinitely know he had some kind of trio with a tamale...

This is one of THE BEST RESTAURANTS EVER! It's a beautiful gem tucked in the heart of concrete Houston! The ambiance is charming. The bar is the center of the whole room surrounded by small tables and eclectic decorations and photos all over the wall. Irma is walking around checking the tables. I told her the guacamole was exceptional and she said she made it! Irma's son came to our table and mentioned Margarita's ...as in you want a margarita, it's not really a question. And the margarita was lovely! But what I loved is the personal experience of asking what we like, and what are we hungry for. There was no menu. It was a great discussion about what they have, what we like and placing our order. Our kids ordered fajitas and tamales. I had red snapper tacos and my husband had the chicken mole. Everything was amazing! The chips were warm and they kept replacing them with warm chips. The queso was delicious. And so was the salsa. No question that I will come to Irmas again!

Came to Houston for a long weekend trip. Was looking specifically for Mexican food within walking distance of my hotel. Went into Irma's Southwest around 5pm on a Friday. Was seated immediately, didn't expect the white table clothes and excellent presentation! The food was great for myself and my two colleagues. Enchiladas, salmon salad, bacon wrapped shrimp. May have slightly offended the owner/ chef when asking about the dressing for the salad, hopefully he is complimented by seeing us back again tomorrow night to try more of the items o...
