I am from Oaxaca and I have to say that this restaurant has genuine food from Oaxaca. Also, the decorations and the vibes made me feel at home. Don't forget to try the "tlayuda" and chocolate.

Expected better, pretty bland

Step aside taco trucks and taco bell, La Carta de Oaxaca is too legit to quit. I feel like I've taken a culture trip and landed in another country when I eat here. The tortillas are absolutely SMACKING. I shamelessly eat 3 and even order a side of their fresh, homemade chips because you can always put me down for CARBio (hehe get it?). The shrimp ceviche was the perfect appetizer to start off my supper of indulgence here. It's fresh, flavorful, and herbaceous. To balance off our ceviche, we also got their beef and potato ball item (I can't recall the name if I'm being honest) but it was so good, we were about to do what all Asians do when there's one last piece and everyone is too shy to claim it. My friend enjoyed it so much, he chucked that stereotype out of the window and just inhaled the last piece -- I don't blame him! The margaritas will have you feeling loose as they do not skimp on the tequila amount here. Lastly, all the entrees were delicious. We got the carne asada plate and shrimp tacos. But seriously, don't skip on the tortillas...
