Tacos are always delicious...

Great for Hispanic finds and cultured foods. Has its own restaurant and butcher shop. I always suggest the Fud brand hot-links and store made Agua Fresca.

I've eaten at many Mexican restaurants in life, but this one was THE worst.  When we went in, the place looked pretty rough, but I thought maybe the food would make up for the dirty floors and run down facilities.  Boy was I wrong! We ordered a steak burrito, a pastor (chicken) taco, and arroz con pollo (chicken with rice).  The burrito was huge, and after one bite I knew I would never be able to finish it.  It was like eating a mound of green peppers and overcooked rubber bands.  If the steak hadn't been cut up into little pieces, you literally wouldn't have been able to chew it enough to eat it.  The taco tasted like pure cilantro.  I like cilantro, but not just by itself.  I could tell there was chicken in there somewhere because of all the gristles.  My friend couldn't finish his arroz con pollo.  He said the texture was very weird and that it had an odd taste.  The sides (rice, beans, etc) were actually quite good. You can pick any other Mexican restaurant in Knoxville, and I can guarantee it won't be as bad as La Esperanza.  I will definitely never go back. P.S. Yelp thinks I am from San Francisco, but I'm from Knoxville.
