La Penca Azul has been a Mexican cuisine mainstay at the corner of Park and Santa Clara and have expanded to a restaurant on Bay Farm Island. I was walking by and I saw a sign posted advertising quesabirria tacos for $5.99 each. I've been hooked on these tasty tacos and decided to get one to try. I walked in the hostess stand and placed a take-out order. After the transaction, she asked me to follow her the Taco Bar. Walking through the restaurant, I ended up at La Penca Azul Taco Bar, which was a store front on the Santa Clara St side of the business. I knew they had expanded the restaurant's dining room as vacancies opened up next door, but didn't realize the Taco Bar was here. Here you can order taco, burritos, bowls, tortas, quesadillas and specialties and they make it in front of you. For my taco, the worker made the tortilla from fresh corn flour that I saw him crank out from a machine. My order was assemble, completed and nicely packed to go. It included the consommé, peppers and a bag of chips and salsa. The quesabirria taco was delish with a good amount of beef and was delish with the consommé. .
