Halloween Weekend *Saturday* We came to the Poconos on a Saturday for a Halloween party. We decided to eat here since it was across from the hotel we were staying in. We went straight to the bar since there was open seating. We wanted to grab a quick bite before getting ready. The bartender approach us with chips and salsa which was good because we were hungry. She took our drink orders and it took FOREVER to come. I would understand if it was made fresh but it was already premade. We ordered a classic margarita (it was not strong). After the wait, we decided to order entrees, I had fish tacos with rice. The wait for the entree was too long. The fish tacos finally came out, you would think everything would be piping hot but it wasn't. The fish taco was cold and dry. There was no seasoning what's so ever. The only good thing about the entree was the rice. I was very disappointed in the food, I would not recommend this place.

We were trying to find something in the area that wasn't a chain and decided to give La Tolteca a shot. We are so glad we did! Drinks were great-- the white sangria and micheladas were both highlights. Tableside guac with pineapple was fantastic (and a big step up from the salsa, which was the only part of our meal that was subpar). My wife ordered the Chori Steak, which was done correctly and topped with well-seasoned (but not overly salty) chorizo. I had the Carnitas dinner-- wonderfully crisped and full of flavor. Our waitress was exceedingly friendly. Now, add on top of all of this a live mariachi band, and it was just a really fun evening. So glad we came... if we are back in the area, we will be sure to return!
