In addition to a clean kitchen, an absolute must for me, Lo Nuestro is as its name implies - Ours. The food's authenticity is as accurate as being in a Dominican grandmother's kitchen. The pernil (pork roast) is succulent and the crackling rind is what cooked pork dreams are about. Their rice and beans are not greasy and are seasoned just right. The competition between the sweet plantains and the tostones is such that you may as well order both. Be adventurous and try their mofongo - a Mt. Everest of mashed green plantains stuffed with either shrimp, pork or chicken with a mojito garlic sauce on the side. Don't be shy and wash it all down with one of the owner's delicious "batidas" a papaya or pineapple or an array of fruit smoothies. For a change from the same old- have Lo Nuestro cater your holiday events.
