After living in Anderson for 3yrs & hearing locals talking about Mama Penn’s, I decided it was time I need to give this local restaurant a try. This review is my experience & mine only.1st order:Country stk /w brown gravyMashed potatoesGreen beans.Delish!2nd order:Fried chicken dark meatGreen limasSweet potato casseroleChicken was coated with flour only, not crispy! As a southern, I know crispy chicken skin.Green limas, delishSweet potato casserole was just mashed sweet potatoes with sugar & maybe cinnamon.3rd order:Hb stkPatty to thin & over cooked. My overall opinion, veggies are great, customer service, very friendly but there is a lack in the meat proteins

Either way, we were served intensely fat-soaked fried chicken (it was horrible AND tough) and greens that were frozen and served barely warmed. Some corn bread and rolls accompanied these disastrous items. They were also awful, tasting of their origins from some industrial setting somewhere, with plenty of fine preservatives and additives to give them that delicious "Southern" "Comfort" taste: oh so very not true. I think the basis of "Southern" or "Comfort" food stems from the taste redolent and/or reminiscent of food made at home. This...
