Steak is great and they do an awesome pretzel bread in the bread service. It's also a really cool, upscale setting. The problem is that the fries are a drag. Not long ago, they had excellent, crispy, salty shoe string fries and shoe string onion rings. They got rid of the onion rings, which was too bad, and have now replaced the shoe string fries with a really bland, mushy steak fry. When the steak and fry combo is good, it exceeds the sum of its parts. When one side is off, it really brings the whole experience down, and the fries at Mastros torpedo the experience. It's strange that a place that does so many things so well can hit such a false note with such a basic side.

Overrated steakhouse- The food is great, but the customer service and drinks were horrible. I booked a dinner for 10 for my birthday a week before, they made me and my party wait for almost 1 hour (8 guest and myself because one was running late). I talked to at least 3 different people at the front and they kept telling me the table was getting ready. That alone was ridiculous for a restaurant that made me put a card on file when booking the table. Drinks- If you're not planning to drink wine you'll most likely end up drinking water like me. Their flavorless water with alcohol cocktails are the worst. Nobody in my table liked their drink, I hope those are not the drinks they make on the regular basis. The food was amazing, but at these type of expensive Steakhouses you'll expect a better customer service and better drinks for the premium costs they're charging you.

Girls Night anyone ? Houston's Restaurant Week me and a friend decided to try Mastro's Steakhouse. We started off with their signature lemon drops. I got strawberry purée added to mine. For my appetizer, I got the French Onion Soup, it was savory and had A LOT of cheese. We then got the Alaska King Crab California Roll, this was the freshest sushi I ever had honestly. For my entree, I got the Blackened Salmon with Mango Butter. For my si...
