The food EVERY SINGLE TIME IVE EVER EATEN HERE has been sparse and nothing compared to it's location.  All salads wilted, and almost 50% missing/same for all sandwiches Ive ordered...For the price, it is just horrible.

The best cocktail in town--created by their bartender involving mezcal. The name escapes me (wonder why) but you'll see it at the end of the menu. The food and ambience are great, too.

We came to Matanza for Happy Hour on a Friday evening. I got the Blueberry Basil Margarita for $5 which was a good deal. I was a bit disappointed when it came out in a rocks glass, but oh well! I didn't get a ton of blueberry or basil flavor from the margarita - to me it pretty much just tasted like a classic margarita. I did not eat, but everyone else at my table ordered the tacos. I will note that our server told us that if a party of 5 or larger orders the happy hour tacos, they all need to get the same tacos to make it easier on the kitchen. The service wasn't great. We ordered our food and our waitress disappeared. We could have used some refills and I would have liked to place an order for an appetizer. When the tacos arrived, we were all very surprised that they were hard shells. The consensus from the table was that the tacos were good, but not great.
