I have been a customer of the 1770 House Restaurant since the early 1970s and have enjoyed the old world atmosphere and good service. Just recently I made a reservation for 6 celebrate my daughter's 59th birthday. When the reservation was made asked if a cake could be ordered. Their answer was NO but you can bring your own cake which I did without any comment about their being a PLATE CHARGE. The bill was in excess of $1,000 with the Plate Charge of $60 to serve the cake that I brought. The server and manager's comment...
