I'd give them 5 stars but the lady at the window was kind of rude. I asked her for lemon with the fish and chips and she replied, "we're busy. If I have time to cut some" My mom throughly enjoyed her clam bellies and I liked my fish and chips. Both the sweet potato fries and regular fries looked homemade and not frozen out of a bag. I'd definitely return again but we were on vacation and stopped for dinner.

Five stars for the quality cooking and range of great choices from meat and cheese to veggie and vegan. Some would take off a star for being limited to a picnic table facing a noisy road or takeaway, but I see it as a throwback to how things were before Howard Johnson and Burger King came along. One of us had terrific homemade clam chowder (choice is red or white we had red) and cheesesteak hoagie with grilled onions and peppers smothered in cheese; the other of us had veggies on a bun. Everything is cooked to order so if you didn't call it in you'll wait ten minutes or more. They're careful about cleanliness and social distancing too. Local brand Giffords ice cream was a great dessert, also available as a thick shake. Pomfret Center is a five mile detour from Connecticut I-395 which connects the Connecticut shoreline I-95 at Waterford to Mass Pike I-90 at Worcester. Keep it in mind if that's your route to or from Boston.

First time at the Airline Grill. Chowder were great, clam cakes were awesome and the lobster roll was to die for. Definitely will be returning!
