Anaba Japanese Cuisine in Maryville

Well, I've given this place 3 chances. Lots of people seem to love it but I don't.  I want to but it's not happening. It takes forever and a day during lunch, even if we get there before it gets crowded.  One time the waitress was so grouchy and rude the whole time, I feel like she just needed to go on home instead of ruining our day. I've gotten the bento box twice plus a side of seaweed salad to maybe add some excitement to my meal and the food was just meh. Not bad but meh, boring, tasteless. Last Fri I got the curry bowl. Curry is always good right? Nope.  So disappointing. The rice was so sticky then drenched in curry sauce so it became a gloppy mess. Boring curry so I had to add sriracha to liven it up. Not a whole lot of chicken and the broccoli and carrots were raw. Not al dente, but raw. $10 is what I paid to pick the chicken out and eat some of the rice and curry.  I did not send it back because of how long it took to get our food and we had to get back to work. I did get a side salad as well with ginger dressing and the dressing was delicious! I could have drank a cup of it. The tomatoes and lettuce were in such big chunks crammed inside a teensy bowl, I had to put my salad inside my curry bowl to chop it up more so I could eat it.  Yummmm warm salad. Very pleasant and efficient! The food is very authentic per my husband which has been to Japan multiple times, so if you are not use to it then it may be very different than the Japanese you are used to.

Ever since I moved to area I have been trying to find a good Japanese restaurant. This is the best one that I have been too!
