Walked in the door at 8:20pm, open sign was on and posted business hours on the door stated they were open until 9pm. Upon walking in we were greeted with eye rolls of one of the workers, after a few minutes he finally approached us. He then refused us service and stated their off season hours were in affect and their kitchen was already closed. None of which was posted in ANY WAY for customers to see. We were very understanding at first and just asked if we could grab some food to go. He stated we could not and the kitchen was closed and there was nothing further he could do for us. Asked to speak to a manager and he told us we could order food to go but still not be seated to eat at all. I have worked in the restaurant industry plenty and every place I’ve worked we were NEVER allowed to refuse any type of service if it was still during open business hours. With all that being said after we got our bill for our to go salads (freaking most simple things in the menus out of understanding for their staff) he charged us for the WRONG BILL, 100 dollars for two salads. He then ‘fixed it’ and we were on our merry way but all in all TERRIBLE SERVICE due to their inconvience of service us I guess. Pretty sure you signed up to work in this I did try knowing you had to work until you closed but maybe I’m wrong. Salads were actually pretty good but not good enough to over ride the pitiful customer service.

The only reason I'm giving two stars is the service and the steak was actually cooked how we asked. Other than that the food was terrible. The Country fried steak was essentially frozen hamburger patties pounded out and microwaved. Wasn't even breaded. Gravy was some mystery liquid and the onion rings, mashed potatoes, and mixed veggies were all about the same quality. I think the only reason the steak was okay is every other item we ordered was blasted in a microwave.

Our Family experience at Big E Steakhouse & Saloon was one of the HIGLIGHTS of our trip to the Grand Canyon I did my research of the area (like you are now) and found out quickly we were having pizza, fast-food, or Steakhouse for dinner (only options ) we did a quick drive-by through town on the way into the South-Rim Park area & taking inventory on the choices available and the reviews we saw we took our Family of 4 here. The DECORE: I think if you enjoy themed restaurants & kitchy decorations that give you the Theme Park Vibe like we do then you'll find this place as fun as we did. There's so much detail in the decor!! Fits right into the Country theme & We LOVED IT. COVID CONSIDERATIONS/ CLEANLIENESS: They are very considerate of following new C-19 guidelines and they even give you a little hygiene bag for your mask to stay clean @ the table! They keep you protected indoors with safe distances between the tables, the staff are wearing , I saw the staff cleaning very thoroughly after each table was cleared. I always think of hearing Gordon Ramsey saying once that a restaurant with a clean bathroom reflects a high likelihood they also keep clean kitchen. If that's true then they are doing a great job on both! Ver...
