Character's Famous BBQ in Adairsville

This place is amazing.  It has moved from the old location recently.  Yes it is small, a hole in the wall place, but the food is worth it!  It is not a nice sit down, showy, 'all the bells and whistles' type BBQ restaurant.  It is simply known as the place to come and get some really awesome BBQ...you might have to wait in line for a bit, and if he's closed early it's because he has sold completely out for the day.  The family that owns this restaurant (a one man show pretty much) works very hard and provides this small town with amazing BBQ.  We have been repeat customers again and again.  The BBQ pork and chopped chicken are the best I have ever had.  His homemade BBQ sauce is a vinegar based thin...

Michael Character makes the best BBQ I've ever had anywhere from Texas to New York. I would burn my Grandma's house down for some of his potato salad right now! Slaw is great! Baked beans are great! You can not go wrong with anything at Character's.

Finally got a chance to stop in at Characters BBQ even though this is an hour from where we live. Even though we arrived late, that was no problem.  The pulled pork was fantastic and the ribs may have been even better.  Both had the right amount of great smokey flavor, the meat on the ribs came right off the bone but still retained perfect texture.  The pulled pork was moist and full of both the pork and smoke flavor. The sides were fantastic, the best baked beans I've had in a long, long time.  The coleslaw was also outstanding, not overly dressed and too wet like you often find, and not too much seasoning, so you could actually tell you were eating coleslaw. Can't wait for our next visit.
