Janet's Montana Cafe in Alpine

Melanie took great care of us - she is too sweet! The food here is amazing. We devoured a tuna melt and corned beef hash yummmmmmm. Recommend any day, all day!

Best meal in Alpine! Hello maybe best place in East county!

We were at Viejas casino  and wanted to eat somewhere totally different. Luckily Janet's Montana Cafe was close by. I loved the rustic look of it all. We chose to eat outside on their deck. I started with their soup of the day. It was  a chunky  creamy chicken soup. I would stop by for this soup alone and wouldn't mind having it as my entree . This came with my meal so I was happy. I ordered the steak , fried shrimp , it came with a loaded potato and seasonal veggies. The shrimp were a good size and crispy The steak was tender and perfectly medium well. Fresh rolls and corn bread was also brought out with butter and honey butter. My meal also came with a choice of dessert. They only make 2 of each cake or pie a day so sometimes they run out of your first choices.This was what happened to me so I settled on the chocolate cake. They are very generous with the serving. It wasn't a sliver of cake it was 2 heaping slices! I had a huge cafe mocha with my dessert. They have a lot of coffee drink choices  which was a beautiful thing because I'm a coffee lover. We wanted to try their banana cake and banana cream pie so we ordered it to go. The banana bread was a bit hard and only had nuts on top of bread not throughout. That was the only thing I wouldn't order again. I love the ambience and how the staff all work together to make sure you are taken care of. This is a charming place that is off the beaten path.
