I did not like such a large Buddha statue right at the entrance. The wide variety of plants all the property was just so wonderful. Gold and red decorative and cultural motifs added elegance. Employees were nice and prompt; the chair and table comfortable. The ample, properly made and served cashew chicken was more than satisfactory.I have had problems with Buddha statues since I read an article about how in one part of China, at one time, people committed slow suicide by eating very little for a long time then eventually entombed themselves within some unit such as a Buddha statue.

I think all food should taste good for a 4.5 restauran it looks very clean an they welcome you very friendly I came in because of the high reviews but unfortunately my food was tasteless my lo mien was overcook or reheated some one said I order the wrong food but there’s no such thing as that, that’s what I was in the mood for all food should be prepared with pride and they fail.

My husband and I had dinner at North China Restaurant when we were stranded in Houston due to flooding from Imelda on I10E (it was near our motel). We were fortunate to have selected this restaurant for our dinner. Everything was excellent, from the very personal service, to the quality of the food. All the staff, including the owner thanked us for coming in, and bid us good night when we left. Although we opted for beer this particular night, the restaurant appears to have an extensive wine selection. We chose the hot and sour soup to start, and it was very good, with both shrimp and pork as well as the usual vegetables. When we ordered it, our server mentioned that the soup contained shrimp and pork, in case this was a dietary issue for us - which I thought was considerate. For entrées, we ordered the garlic pork and the Chinese broccoli. Both were large portions and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The rice was somewhat gummy, but this was not a big issue. We were not hungry enough for dessert, but left very happy with our meal and with the friendly service we experienced at North China Restaurant. We hope to return.
