Old Europe in Asheville

I stopped by on Christmas Eve to pick up a few pastries, just for myself. Yes, I did say "a few" and "for myself" in one sentence. I love dessert! This was the fist time I've even been to Old Europe Pastries. The line was outside as they don't allow more than one customer in. I waited about 15 minutes for my turn while peeking through the window debating how many and which pastries to buy. The prices were displayed, but when I checked out 3 desserts every pastry somehow cost more. I realized it only after I left the store. No, it was not tax as it was added after on the receipt. The difference was about 25 cents per pastry. A bit disappointing that the prices were not what was on the sticker. I was really looking forward to highly rated tiramisu, but was quite disappointed. This was across from the hotel we were staying at so we got coffees here a couple of times. I thought it was okay, maybe a little overpriced. We had to wait outside, as only one party is allowed in at a time (as of September, 2021). There is a coupon that comes up if you checkin on the Yelp app, however they only applied it to one item rather than our whole purchase.

This was an overall disappointment. The pain chocolate and pastries were just too dough like and not at all flaky or light. Too bad if you are looking for European style. Keep looking. This was our second try the first day thine was crazy long not sure why but on the day we went no line. I was glad I did not need to wait for a morning disappointing experience.
