Endearing quality about this "small choice" restaurant...has integrity...

My husband and I decided to try something different so we went to Portico last night for dinner. What a huge disappointment! We seated ourselves when we arrived the tables for two had benches on when side so we asked if we could sit at a table for three that both had chairs the lady/owner said no sit at the table for two the husband/owner said yes it’s fine since there was only one other table occupied at that time. We sat at the table for two so we wouldn’t cause a problem. We didn’t realize you had to order at the counter and no one told us but I finally noticed on the menu so we got up to placed our order. The food was mediocre and the service was terrible. No salt or pepper on the tables and we were not offered Parmesan cheese for a pasta And we couldn’t get the attention of anyone, so no cheese. My husbands phone rang while we were seated and he answered ( yes I know, big no no) His phones broken so it only works on speaker The Lady owner yelled across the room to turn it off which he did immediately. As we left there was no thank you for coming in she only stood there and glared at us. We’ve lived in Sebastopol for over 40 years and there are so many great restaurants such as Gravenstein Grill and Flavor Bistro where they make you feel welcome and the food and Service are both excellent. We won’t be going back to Portico.
