I went to the Red Lion British Pub on recommendation from a British colleague. This is one of his go-to pubs in Houston, and he was raving about the Fish & Chips. We went for lunch on a weekday. Between 11:30 am - 3:00 pm, they serve from their lunch menu. We got there right at 11:30 pm, and their private parking lot was empty. However, after 15-minutes, it filled up pretty fast. Since it was a workday, I avoided any alcohol, but they seem to have a wide selection of different international beers available. The pub itself is nice and well-kept, and there's even a nice patio outside with heaters for those colder nights. The service was also fantastic. We, of course, ordered the Fish & Chips served with garden peas and tartar sauce for $12. Our food was brought out fairly quickly. The fish itself was flavorful, juicy, and the batter was not heavy like I've had at other places. I don't typically eat fish & chips, but I could honestly say that this was one of the better ones I've tried in Houston. I also noticed they had a lot of other interesting items on their menu fused with Indian dishes. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at the Red Lion British Pub. I have heard about it for years, but never wandered in. The food, service, and atmosphere was all good. I don't typically frequent pubs, but I would definitely come back if I was ever in the mood to eat fish & chips.
