I need to preface this by saying that I rarely leave reviews for anything - ever. I don’t get to come to Roost often, but lately I’ve been coming about once per menu change. I’ve celebrated my birthday here twice and I always tell people that it’s one of my favorite spots in the city. That being said, I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Roost last night.I was celebrating my friends birthday and we both had two glasses of wine, ordered two appetizers, and for dinner she ordered scallops and I got the duck breast. Her scallops were great, my duck was chewy and practically cold by the time it got to the table. Per the picture, the duck was sliced into three pieces and there were three potatoes. Lovely atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. We started with the bread service which we really enjoyed. I had the fresh BOH pasta and my wife had the crispy fried chicken. I found the pasta over-cooked and lacking memorable flavor and visual appeal. My wife said the chicken was dry (I had a bite and can confirm) but the sides were good. The prices were a bit steep for the quality of the food and size of the servings. Overall it was good but not great. In a city like Houston restaurants have to bring their A-game. We will likely not return.
