Runway Spirits in Alameda

We came across this place visiting the hangar one vodka distillery, thinking that this was the tasting room. It's on the second floor of the hanger one distillery, and it's absolutely gorgeous. This was a great and unexpected find! First of all, the decor. Wow, gorgeous model airplanes and greenery everywhere. The drinks were amazing, I ordered a seasonal summer cocktail that was just strong enough for still being really pretty and tasty. Gorgeous views stretching all the way to San Francisco.

Awesome destination spot, I didn't expect it but when I landed (not via plane, lol) I couldn't believe the view.  The cocktails were some of the best I ever tasted and the staff was very friendly. Then we found out there was a bottle shop and man what a great selection did they have, with all these cool local distillery flavors, like gin, bourbon, absinthe and all kinds of different liqueurs and mixers. Just to many to mention. The lady that manages the place was so knowledgeable about all the different selections of local spirits, (since she is the the person we found out that makes most of the picks) including the stories behind the spirits... We will be back soon, an amazing hidden gem...

We actually stopped at Hangar 1 to taste the vodka and buy a couple of bottles of vodka for the holidays. We then realized that Hangar 1 and Runway Spirits (and the Bottle Shop) are separate businesses although Runway Spirits and the Bottle Shop sell Hangar 1 vodka and brandy and are right next door to Hangar 1. First, we had a tasting flight of the speciality vodkas and charcuterie at Hangar 1 and sat outside facing SF! Beautiful view and excellent vodka tasting flight!
