Shanghai Restaurant in Houston

This place is a dim sum place, JUST a dim sum place, I would say. My family always comes here for delicious dim sum takeouts; the owner does dim sum the legit way. The Cantonese fried dumplings is a hit every Chinese New Year-Very yummy sweet treats! HOWEVER, this place is absolutely not a good idea for holiday meals. For the Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner, we ordered $700 worth of a dinner takeout, including a 7-lb King Crab 3 Ways, which however turned out to be a total disappointment and the worst mistake ever! Our pick-up time was 7 PM, but the last box of food did not come out until 8:45 PM. The foods just came out slowly one by one, and all were left on the counter, getting cold, while waiting for the order to be fully completed. I understand that it was the busiest time of the year on Chinese New Year's Eve and that they were short-staffed just like everywhere else, BUT STILL, an hour-and-45-minute delay would not be acceptable! When the foods finally got home, most of them were cold already, except for the fried rice with dried scallops that came out last from the kitchen. Service meh. Our server wasn't rude, but also not attentive. We ordered hot tea, but I wanted Jasmine and wrote that on the order sheet. We ordered several items, we were informed that they didn't have one we wanted as we were being served. No option to order something else was given. Our server just walked away.All of the above are forgivable, but I draw the line at being served moldy food. Avoid at all costs!

This review isn't too much about its food, but rather the dishonest service,  questionable practices, and intentional lack of attention to orders.
