Sloppy Mama's BBQ in Arlington

I visited this place slightly after it first opened with mediocre expectations (given NoVA's history or lack-luster BBQ joints) and was met with what I initially expected.  The brisket was substandard (barely smoked) and the pulled pork was decent (but more broiled than smoked).  Good sides, but the price was obscenely expensive given the quality.  I swore off Sloppy Mama's. My new fav way to feed a crowd -- Sloppy Mama's catering. Show up at the restaurant and the pleasant and efficient staff will load the food into your car. All you have to do at home is lay out a delicious meal with everything you need included -- serving and dining utensils, Sterno to keep the meats warm, and practical food "boats" that you can actually eat from without dumping your dinner in your lap. As usual, amazing BBQ with sides, home-made pickles and three amazing sauces. Impressive AND super easy!! Love it.

Loved Sloppy Mama's BBQ and also their sides - what I really loved when I visited to pick up my order was how safe they are being during COVID.  Every single employee was wearing masks and I observed them sanitizing their hands after touching pretty much anything (the guy working the register was wearing gloves but sanitized his gloves immediately after touching my credit card).  They also noted they were keeping business to-go only rather than dine-in in order to protect themselves and their patrons. I appreciate that!   The BBQ itself was delicious... perfectly tender and smoky.  And they gave me one of every sauce to try.  I was a fan of the pulled pork and ribs.  Also got some sausages and wasn't expecting anything but wow!
