I visit Southern California fairly often and can report that my experiences with Stater Bros. Markets have up to now been superb. Unfortunately this store is an exception. While it boasts the familiar Stater attributes of cleanliness, easily navigable aisles and being well stocked, I found that the selection a bit wanting, almost old fashion and unimaginative when compared to some major competitors like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. And Stater is not known for its bargains. But most disappointing is the service. Because I am on a strict low salt diet I normally buy sodium-free cottage cheese, widely available. For some reason this Stater does not stock this item. Okay, I get that. However when I asked one of the stockers about whether such an item was merely out or not available, you would have thought I just asked him why the sky is blue. He indignantly stated that if it's not there, it's not there, and then went back to his yogurt duty. Same experience in the snack department, apparently low-sodium consumers are a rarity in Pasadena. Sorbet? I was told they had only a limited selection and shown the sherbet section. Frozen fruit? The freezer shelves were literally bare. With that I ended my visit and hurried out. Overall, a very disappointing experience, sorry to say.
