Reviews made it look good, but trust me it is not. Overpriced, under served, frozen Omaha steaks. Better off going to Applebees or Chili's.

So sad that this historical restaurant will be closing permanently Jan 29. Covid had hit them very hard. Go out and support them and get your last memory of history and great steaks.

The ambience is closer to a Texas museum than a restaurant. If this is your thing, you'll be thrilled. But we came to eat, and the decor is neither a deal-breaker nor an asset. First thing I noticed when presented with a menu: everything is ala carte, so if you'd like a "traditional" dinner (i.e. with salad and a couple of sides) figure on $15-$20 additional to the price of your main course. They do, however, give you a "deal" if you order a steak: only $4 more for one side. The seafood gumbo was considerably lacking in its main ingredient ... nothing much in there. At $9 for a small bowl, I expected more. I've had much better for less elsewhere. My ribeye was cooked as ordered, medium-rare, but was at room temperature to the touch. At premium pricing, I expected at least a hint of presentation thought. What was served was a sorry-looking piece of beef, alone on a large dinner plate ... no grill marks, no garnish (save for a sprinkling of chopped parsley) ... hardly appetizing. Further, it was heavily over-seasoned. I managed to scrape enough off to make the thing palatable.    I've been served more flavorful steaks in places that don't even specialize in them, and for a lo...
