Fantastic food, and very friendly staff. Only wish they had later bar hours, with maybe a simple bar menu. You know, fried food, chips & guac/buffalo chx dip, etc

What the heck is a Stifado? Being Italian, and never having heard of it before -- THIS TARGET WAS IN MY CROSSHAIRS! After a less-than-stellar visit to a local attraction, four of my family members and I found this unassuming (from the outside) JEWEL, and I am SO glad we did! We arrived early because we hadn't had breakfast or lunch, and walked up the entrance as they were unlocking it at 3pm. Drink menu was extensive and appetizers were very satisfying. Spinach dip was delectable, Octopus was very well prepared (and a value for what they give vs. the charge), and the Kale salad was crunchy deliciousness. The kids meals came early and they enjoyed every bite. My wife and daughter had a ridiculously large dish of chicken breast with prosciutto, mozz and roasted res peppers that they both enjoyed (and neither finished). I had the aforementioned Stifado.  Boneless braised short rib in a brown sauce with homemade pappardelle.  WHOA, BABY!  That was (and with leftovers, soon-to-be-AGAIN) like no other Italian dish I have ever had before. Would DEFINITELY return there whenever I am in the area (even though it will definitely NOT be after going to the local attraction I spoke about before) To the staff and owners of The Stonewood Tavern -- THANKS FOR SAVING THE DAY!!!
